One of these is a palace at 49 Andr\u00e1ssy Street, on the ground floor of which in 1888 the Abb\u00e1zia, \u201cthe coffee house with golden mirrors\u201d was opened, about its splendour and famous guests &#8211; including K\u00e1roly E\u00f6tv\u00f6s (the \u201cVoivode\u201d) and the liberal democrat politician, Vilmos V\u00e1zsonyi &#8211; several stories and anecdotes have been preserved.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Az 1870-es \u00e9vek egyik legnagyobb \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9szeti v\u00e1llalkoz\u00e1sa a Sug\u00e1r\u00fat &#8211; mai nev\u00e9n Andr\u00e1ssy \u00fat &#8211; fel\u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9se volt. A ter\u00fclet parcell\u00e1z\u00e1s\u00e1t a Sug\u00e1r\u00fati \u00c9p\u00edt\u0151 V\u00e1llalat a K\u00f6zmunk\u00e1k Tan\u00e1cs\u00e1val egyet\u00e9rt\u00e9sben v\u00e9gezte. Az els\u0151 \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9si enged\u00e9lyt a Nagymez\u0151 \u00e9s Gy\u00e1r utca k\u00f6z\u00f6tti h\u00e1zt\u00f6mbre adt\u00e1k ki 1872-ben, amelyet Unger Emil tervezett. A k\u00f6vetkez\u0151 enged\u00e9lyt az Oktogon kapta &#8211; akkori nev\u00e9n: Nyolcsz\u00f6g t\u00e9r -, amelyet Szkalnitzky Antal tervei nyom\u00e1n kezdtek ki\u00e9p\u00edteni.<\/p>\n<p>Szkalnitzky Antal \u00e9letm\u0171v\u00e9t t\u00f6bb jelent\u0151s \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9szeti p\u00e1ly\u00e1zati r\u00e9szv\u00e9tel jellemzi, amelyek \u00e1ltal nagyfok\u00fa hazai h\u00edrn\u00e9vre tett szert. \u00c9p\u00fcletei k\u00f6z\u00fcl t\u00f6bbek k\u00f6z\u00f6tt kiemelhet\u0151 a Debreceni Sz\u00ednh\u00e1z (1861-1865), a Hung\u00e1ria Nagysz\u00e1ll\u00f3 (1868-1871), az Egyetemi K\u00f6nyvt\u00e1r (1873-1875) \u00e9s a Nemzeti Sz\u00ednh\u00e1z \u00e1t\u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9se (1873-1875). Koch Henrikkel t\u00e1rsulva irod\u00e1t nyitottak Pesten, \u00edgy val\u00f3sz\u00edn\u0171s\u00edthet\u0151, hogy Szkalnitzky Koch Henriknek k\u00f6sz\u00f6nhette megb\u00edzat\u00e1s\u00e1t, aki a Sug\u00e1r\u00fat \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9s\u00e9re alap\u00edtott v\u00e1llalat m\u0171szaki igazgat\u00f3ja volt.<\/p>\n<p>Az \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9s 1873-ban kezd\u0151d\u00f6tt meg, az \u00e9p\u00edt\u0151mester ifj. P\u00e1n J\u00f3zsef volt &#8211; a n\u00e9gy Oktogon t\u00e9ri \u00e9p\u00fcletn\u00e9l h\u00e1rom mellett az \u0151 neve szerepel, az Andr\u00e1ssy \u00fat 55. sz\u00e1m\u00fa h\u00e1zn\u00e1l m\u00e1r Kauser J\u00e1nos neve olvashat\u00f3. A n\u00e9gy \u00e9p\u00fclet 1874 \u0151sz\u00e9re k\u00e9sz\u00fclt el. A h\u00e1zak az egys\u00e9gess\u00e9g elve szerint k\u00e9sz\u00fcltek, m\u00e9gis r\u00e9szletform\u00e1ikban elt\u00e9r\u00e9seket mutatnak. Alaprajzi rendszere mind a n\u00e9gy b\u00e9rh\u00e1znak m\u00e1s, hiszen Szkalnitzky Antalnak alkalmazkodnia kellett a telek adotts\u00e1gaihoz.<\/p>\n<p>A z\u00e1rt sorban \u00e1ll\u00f3 sarok\u00e9p\u00fclet f\u0151homlokzata az Oktogon t\u00e9rre n\u00e9z, \u00f6sszesen tizenegy tengelye van, amelyb\u0151l \u00f6t a kiemelt k\u00f6z\u00e9prizaliton, h\u00e1rom-h\u00e1rom a k\u00e9t oldalr\u00f3l csatlakoz\u00f3, enyh\u00e9n h\u00e1tr\u00e9bb l\u00e9p\u0151 oldalrizaliton \u00e1ll. Az \u00e9p\u00fclet az Andr\u00e1ssy \u00faton \u00e9s a Ter\u00e9z k\u00f6r\u00faton tov\u00e1bbi n\u00e9gy-n\u00e9gy tengellyel folytat\u00f3dik, bej\u00e1rata az Andr\u00e1ssy \u00fat fel\u0151l ny\u00edlik. A b\u00e9rh\u00e1z mai alapsz\u00edne barack, a tagozatok, a d\u00edsz\u00edtm\u00e9nyek feh\u00e9rre vakoltak. A l\u00e1bazat alacsony, k\u0151b\u0151l k\u00e9sz\u00fclt, erre ker\u00fclt a vakolt \u00e9s s\u00e1vozott, &#8211; \u00f6sszesen kilenc s\u00e1v &#8211; f\u00f6ldszinti fel\u00fclet, amelyet a f\u0151homlokzaton \u00f6t szegmens\u00edves z\u00e1r\u00f3d\u00e1ssal kialak\u00edtott ny\u00edl\u00e1s t\u00f6r meg.
