Its current form was established 150 years ago, at the time of the unification of Budapest. In 1872 the construction of the four main buildings of the square began in Neo-Renaissance style, according to plans by Antal Szkalnitzky and Henrik Koch. In addition to rental apartments, the buildings hosted restaurants and shops on their ground floors.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Az 1870-es \u00e9vek egyik legnagyobb \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9szeti v\u00e1llalkoz\u00e1sa a Sug\u00e1r\u00fat &#8211; mai nev\u00e9n Andr\u00e1ssy \u00fat &#8211; fel\u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9se volt. Az \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9st\u00f6rt\u00e9net \u00f6sszefoglal\u00e1sa Budapest F\u0151v\u00e1ros Lev\u00e9lt\u00e1r\u00e1nak honlapj\u00e1n olvashat\u00f3, amelyb\u0151l az al\u00e1bbi r\u00e9szletet emelem ki: &#8220;<em>Az egyezm\u00e9ny \u00e9rtelm\u00e9ben a f\u0151v\u00e1llalkoz\u00f3 Erlanger Bankh\u00e1z fili\u00e1l\u00e9ja, a Franco-Magyar Bank 1872-ben megalap\u00edtotta az \u00c1ltal\u00e1nos Magyar Municip\u00e1lis Hitelint\u00e9zetet a sug\u00e1r\u00fati \u00e9p\u00edtkez\u00e9s lebonyol\u00edt\u00e1s\u00e1ra. E bank a m\u00e1r kisaj\u00e1t\u00edtott telkeket \u00e1tvette a F\u0151v\u00e1rosi K\u00f6zmunk\u00e1k Tan\u00e1cs\u00e1t\u00f3l, \u00e9s k\u00f6telezte mag\u00e1t, hogy a Sug\u00e1rutat \u00f6t \u00e9ven, a mell\u00e9kes \u00fatvonalakat t\u00edz \u00e9ven bel\u00fcl fel\u00e9p\u00edtteti. A Tan\u00e1cs v\u00e1llalta, hogy a m\u00e9g sz\u00fcks\u00e9ges kisaj\u00e1t\u00edt\u00e1sok k\u00f6lts\u00e9geinek fel\u00e9t fedezi, valamint 1.038.000 Ft-ot fizet a v\u00e1llalkoz\u00f3knak az \u00fat ki\u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9s\u00e9\u00e9rt. Az \u00fat sz\u00e9less\u00e9g\u00e9t az Oktogonig terjed\u0151 szakaszon 18 \u00f6lben, a Kod\u00e1ly k\u00f6r\u00f6ndig terjed\u0151 m\u00e1sodik szakaszon 24 \u00f6lben, a V\u00e1rosligetig terjed\u0151 harmadik \u00fatszakaszon, az el\u0151kertekkel egy\u00fctt 30 \u00f6lben hat\u00e1rozt\u00e1k meg.?<\/em> A tervez\u00e9s szerint az \u00e9p\u00fcletek az els\u0151 szakaszon h\u00e1rom-n\u00e9gyemeletes, a m\u00e1sodik szakaszon k\u00e9t-h\u00e1romemeletes b\u00e9rh\u00e1zak, a harmadik szakaszon vill\u00e1k, amelyek c\u00e9lja hangs\u00falyozni azt az \u00e1tmenetet, mely a v\u00e1rosi forgalomt\u00f3l a z\u00f6ld \u00f6vezetig, a V\u00e1rosligetig tart. A ter\u00fclet parcell\u00e1z\u00e1s\u00e1t a Sug\u00e1r\u00fati \u00c9p\u00edt\u0151 V\u00e1llalat a K\u00f6zmunk\u00e1k Tan\u00e1cs\u00e1val egyet\u00e9rt\u00e9sben v\u00e9gezte. Az els\u0151 \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9si enged\u00e9lyt a Nagymez\u0151 \u00e9s Gy\u00e1r utca k\u00f6z\u00f6tti h\u00e1zt\u00f6mbre adt\u00e1k ki 1872-ben, amelyet Unger Emil tervezett. A k\u00f6vetkez\u0151 enged\u00e9lyt az Oktogon &#8211; akkori nev\u00e9n: Nyolcsz\u00f6g t\u00e9r &#8211; kapta amelyet Szkalnitzky Antal tervei nyom\u00e1n kezdtek ki\u00e9p\u00edteni. (Ugyanebben az \u00e9vben emellett n\u00e9h\u00e1ny villa meg\u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9s\u00e9re is enged\u00e9lyt adott a Tan\u00e1cs a Sug\u00e1r\u00fat utols\u00f3 szakasz\u00e1n.)<\/p>\n<p>Szkalnitzky Antal \u00e9letm\u0171v\u00e9t t\u00f6bb jelent\u0151s \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9szeti p\u00e1ly\u00e1zati r\u00e9szv\u00e9tel jellemzi, amelyek \u00e1ltal nagyfok\u00fa hazai h\u00edrn\u00e9vre tett szert. \u00c9p\u00fcletei k\u00f6z\u00fcl t\u00f6bbek k\u00f6z\u00f6tt kiemelhet\u0151 a Debreceni Sz\u00ednh\u00e1z (1861-1865), a Hung\u00e1ria Nagysz\u00e1ll\u00f3 (1868-1871), az Egyetemi K\u00f6nyvt\u00e1r (1873-1875) \u00e9s a Nemzeti Sz\u00ednh\u00e1z \u00e1t\u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9se (1873-1875). Koch Henrikkel t\u00e1rsulva irod\u00e1t nyitottak Pesten, \u00edgy val\u00f3sz\u00edn\u0171s\u00edthet\u0151, hogy Szkalmitzky Koch Henriknek k\u00f6sz\u00f6nhette megb\u00edzat\u00e1s\u00e1t, aki a Sug\u00e1r\u00fat \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9s\u00e9re alap\u00edtott v\u00e1llalat m\u0171szaki igazgat\u00f3ja volt. Az \u00e9p\u00edt\u00e9s 1863-ban kezd\u0151d\u00f6tt meg, az \u00e9p\u00edt\u0151mester ifj. P\u00e1n J\u00f3zsef volt &#8211; a n\u00e9gy Oktogon t\u00e9ri \u00e9p\u00fcletn\u00e9l h\u00e1rom mellett az \u0151 neve szerepel, az Andr\u00e1ssy \u00fat 55. sz\u00e1m\u00fa h\u00e1zn\u00e1l m\u00e1r Kauser J\u00e1nos neve olvashat\u00f3. A n\u00e9gy \u00e9p\u00fclet 1874 \u0151sz\u00e9re k\u00e9sz\u00fclt el. A h\u00e1zak az egys\u00e9gess\u00e9g elve szerint k\u00e9sz\u00fcltek, r\u00e9szletform\u00e1ikban m\u00e9gis elt\u00e9r\u00e9seket mutatnak. Alaprajzi rendszere mind a n\u00e9gy b\u00e9rh\u00e1znak m\u00e1s, hiszen Szkalnitzky Antalnak alkalmazkodnia kellett a telek adotts\u00e1gaihoz.<\/p>\n<p>A z\u00e1rt sorban \u00e1ll\u00f3 sarok\u00e9p\u00fclet f\u0151homlokzata az Oktogon t\u00e9rre n\u00e9z, \u00f6sszesen tizenegy tengelye van, amelyb\u0151l \u00f6t a kiemelt k\u00f6z\u00e9prizaliton, h\u00e1rom-h\u00e1rom a k\u00e9t oldalr\u00f3l csatlakoz\u00f3, enyh\u00e9n h\u00e1tr\u00e9bb l\u00e9p\u0151 oldalrizaliton \u00e1ll. Az \u00e9p\u00fclet az Andr\u00e1ssy \u00faton \u00e9s a Ter\u00e9z k\u00f6r\u00faton tov\u00e1bbi n\u00e9gy-n\u00e9gy tengellyel folytat\u00f3dik, bej\u00e1rata az Oktogon fel\u0151l ny\u00edlik. A b\u00e9rh\u00e1z mai alapsz\u00edne r\u00f3zsasz\u00edn, a tagozatok, a d\u00edsz\u00edtm\u00e9nyek feh\u00e9rre vakoltak. A l\u00e1bazat alacsony, ezt k\u00f6veti a kv\u00e1derezett f\u00f6ldszinti fel\u00fclet, amelyet a f\u0151homlokzaton tizenegy f\u00e9lk\u00f6r\u00edves z\u00e1r\u00f3d\u00e1ssal kialak\u00edtott ny\u00edl\u00e1s t\u00f6r meg, amelyek k\u00f6z\u00fcl a b\u00e9rh\u00e1z bej\u00e1rata a f\u0151homlokzat jobb oldali oldalrizalitj\u00e1n tal\u00e1lhat\u00f3.
