2025. Between 22-25 May,<\/strong> we will organize the Budapest100 Open House Festival for the 15th time, focusing this year on the topic of urban green spaces<\/strong>. Today, our everyday lives are increasingly shaped by issues such as climate awareness in cities, ecosystem diversity, air quality, and the importance of the animals, plants, and insects that live alongside us.<\/strong> One of the most important arenas for addressing these challenges is our immediate environment \u2014 our homes. <\/p>\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n

The green spaces in our cities play an important role in eliminating heat islands and in the diversity of plant, animal, and insect life. However, alongside large public parks, the smaller and larger “oases” enclosed by our homes also have a significant impact on us and our surroundings.<\/strong> This theme provides an opportunity to engage with buildings of various ages, while also offering a solid foundation for a dialogue about the current development of the city.<\/p>\n\n

This year\u2019s theme of the festival does not focus on a specific era or location, offering an opportunity to engage with buildings of various ages as well as showcase the diversity of urban green spaces<\/strong>. The theme also allows for the involvement of not only architects but also landscape architects, botanists, biologists, gardeners, and any other professionals working with urban ecosystems, the creation and care of gardens and parks. Furthermore, Budapest100 continues to be a celebration of residents and communities,<\/strong> exploring how they can collaborate to green their living environments. <\/p>\n\n

n the more than six months of research leading up to the event and during the programs, we will be seeking answers to exciting questions such as:<\/p>\n\n

  • What can a green courtyard mean for a residential community? How does a jointly cared-for garden bring neighbors together? <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • How can we create harmony between historical buildings and modern greening solutions?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • How can local communities be involved in greening projects, and what methods can be used to increase residents’ environmental awareness?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Which plants and ecological solutions are most suitable for different urban environments, considering the local conditions?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • What role can urban “micro-green spaces,” such as rooftop gardens, inner courtyards, green walls, and community gardens, play in increasing biodiversity? <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • What innovative technologies or methods can support the sustainable creation of green spaces?<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • What are the most effective strategies for promoting collaboration between different professions \u2013 architects, landscape architects, biologists, gardeners?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n

    2025. On May 24-25, we will showcase the houses, gardens, and courtyards where communities lead the way in greening their environment, setting an example for others.<\/strong> Let\u2019s celebrate together how these urban “green islands” are an important part of our city, our homes, and our communities.<\/p>\n\n
