    Data and description

From tenement house to a stove factory, then a car mechanic workshop, designated for demolition — and now a café and open air cinema? The Classicist house designed by Mihály Pollack has seen leech dealers, artists and craftsmen under its roof, before Szimpla Kert was opened almost 20 years ago. The cultural and nightlife center has since become a symbol of Budapest, and a place for exhibitions, concerts and art events. In our current exhibition and historical building tour, we are looking at the adventurous story of the building itself.
