    Data and description

Modern Hungary wanted to represent itself with a modern capital. Ágoston Trefort, the Minister of Culture, listed the creation of a new university campus among the most urgent tasks of the new Budapest. The construction of the first pavilion of the Trefort Garden began in the very year of the reunification of Budapest, based on the designs of Antal Szkalnitzky, the architect of Oktogon. The Department of Physiology was located in the intellectual center of the country: it was adjacent to the National Theatre to the north and to the House of Representatives and the National Museum to the south at the time of its inauguration.
