    Data and description

The first high school, the Printing and Vocational Training Institute, opened in 1976 in Újpalota, in Kavicsos Alley. The plans were drawn up in the IPARTERV office under the supervision of György Kévés. The house, built of cubes, encloses an inner courtyard and a recessed gymnasium. The novelty of the school lies in the layout of the classrooms, the large glass walls allowing the natural light for working, the spacious corridors and the steel frame support system that makes this possible.

Being a child in Újpalota: houses, spaces, stories

(HUN) During the walk, we will visit the fabulous homes of thousands of Újpalota children: the Blue Kindergarten, the Red and Purple Schools; important youth venues that make up for the lack of the cultural center. It sheds light on what life was like in the drying rooms, how an ice rink became in the school garden, or a concert on the roof of the kindergarten.

Walking guide: Ferenc Péterfi, community developer, folk cultivator, sociologist Anna Péterfi, esthete András Várhegyi, architect Zsófia Dombrovszky
