    If you look at the corner building, known asthe Degenfeld alace, you wouldn’t think that it actuallycontains two houses with two courtyards, but with a gateway: a noble palace and a tenement house. The difference is only noticeable after we have passed the gate: an ornate and a less ornate courtyard, a staircase connected by the coach track. An ‘electronic passenger lift’ was installed in the tenement house in 1910. Imre Dégenfeld- Schomburg’s son-in-law, Kálmán Tisza didn’t have to go far from his home to the House of Representatives. Maybe he didn’t even have to harness the horses…
